Fiances and attic crawl spaces

Drinking: Cafe Au Lait from Tria
Thankful for: Fiances and attic crawl spaces

So the other day Mary Lauren hears this scratchy scratchy scratchy above her head at like 8 or 9.  We had this issue last year around the same time when it starts to get a little chilly.  Of course, the little buggers never really come over to my room but I can hear them scratching.  It's not really that it's that big of deal, but it sounds like they are going to scratch right through the ceiling.  Judging by the other mutant animals that live around our house.... a mutant slug (seriously) and a mutant squirrel that Paul is convinced is mixed with a cat... it's quite possible that whatever is in the ceiling could have the ability to scratch right through.  This is all just to make the story a little more dramatic.

Thankfully, Mary Lauren and I both have fiances that we usually try to get to handle these type things.  Although I would be perfectly capable of doing it, if they're there and willing might as well use them.  I have to say that I could do it if they weren't around because I COULD, but I'm trying this new thing where I'm depending on my fiance instead of trying to do everything on my own.  Just for practice, so I have to get some of this independence out before I actually get married.  Back to the story, I'm full of tangents today.  So anyways, Michael (the other fiance) decides to climb up into our "attic."  I guess that is what you call any space above the ceiling, cause it's not exactly an attic.  He climbs up in the ceiling with this heavy duty flashlight...

So bad A right?  Climbs up there and is looking around and finds a nest.  I think my favorite quote from this was "I think I see a nest, but I'm not sure what I'm gonna do if I find an animal inside this nest."  Now I wasn't in the attic per say, and neither was my fiance.  Paul provided other much needed entertainment:

Mostly, I was just making fun of him because he wanted to get up in the attic with Michael to feel like he was doing something.  But Mary Lauren and I needed him to protect us on the other side of the ceiling.  Manly from Michael throwing stuff down at us after revealing that he knew where our roach problem was coming from.  They are apparently all on the walls of the attic SICK!  Roaches gross me out 20 times more than rodents or anything else.  So he sprayed the walls with this roach spray and then threw the can down at us to scare us.... look at this real RAW fear.

I know I've left you all on the edge of your seats.  What's happened to Michael, what about the scratching noise, what was it?  Well folks, the next thing that happened will leave you with shock and awe. As Mary Lauren, Paul and I are taking all these wonderful pictures documenting then event we hear this awful loud scream.  not like a high pitched scream but a man scream.  it was terrifying.  As we are screaming to Michael to tell us what is going on we hear him having a conversation with someone.  That's right, I said a someone, not a something, a someone.  There had been a homeless man living in our attic for weeks and weeks and he had been scratching into the floor some quotes to keep himself busy at nighttime.  Isn't that the creepiest thing ever??

It would be so much creepier if that were true.  Cause it's not true.  But the end of this story is just that Michael sprayed for roaches and we think that whatever was in there got scared away.  I mean I couldn't build all that up without a good ending.  All this to say, I'm thankful for fiances and attic crawl spaces.  Without either of those we wouldn't have all these great pictures and an adventure to put in the books.

Series on Thankfulness

So, I've decided I'm going to do a series on things I'm thankful for.  It's not going to be things like flowers and bunnies and rainbows.  No, no, no.  It's gonna be better than that.  I'm gonna have to get my clever on though.  But for today, it's so easy to tell you what I'm thankful for.  I am thankful for T.V. shows on DVD.  Specifically, Heroes.  I mean seriously.  You know, things on television are great.  But then there are those pesky things in between known as commercials.  I pretty much have two channels going at once at all times so that I can switch back over during commercials.  I realize the point of them, or whatever, but they're still annoying.  Now for those of you blessed with that magical box known as TiVo you don't even have to worry about that anymore, but for us peasants that's where shows on DVD come in.

The WHOLE season at my finger tips!  There are some shows that I can wait till the next week and be ok but not so with Heroes.  Not to mention the fact that I didn't actually start watching till recently.  And maybe, just maybe, I watched like 6 CDs of it on my off day.  Nothing wrong with that right?  Ok so now I've just admitted how ridiculous that day was.  But Heroes?  Ya'll, it's only the most addicting show you've ever seen.  I'm convinced that I would not be able to watch it if I watched in on t.v. because of how involved you get with the characters.  I seriously don't think I would be able to handle waiting a week in between each episode and that is why I am not watching this season until the whole season is done and out for me to watch all at the same time.

Ok so maybe I'm more thankful for Heroes itself rather than just whole seasons.  I'm thankful for Heroes.

For my bridesmaids

Maybe this is sort of a shameless plug so that I can have more than one reader for the blog AND so you all can see how funny I really am.  Mostly though, it's the most efficient way to show my bridesmaids what I am going to make them wear if they don't get their sizes in before Nov. 12th.  For you three that have gotten your sizes in I thank you and you will be saved from this torture.  Enjoy these options ladies.

I've been looking at these dresses as a little more of a "granola" look.  Since Obama was elected now we can go back to our more natural roots and save the environment.  In response to that we have this lovely quilted option.  I do love quilts so this should be an exciting modern look!

Oh but this option is a lovely one.  We'll call this one the cotton candy dress.  Emily, you love cotton candy, so this dress might be right up your ally.  I love the pink color and all the ruffles it's beautiful.  And I mean, what a shine!  This also should be flattering for all body types.  Think of all the twirling you could do in this one.  And the boys might mistake you as a delicious fair food so watch out!  Angela, I'm sorry that you already got sized.  I know pink is your favorite color and this would have been perfect.
A-a-a-a, A-a-a-a, A-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a.  Now if Ariel had just war this dress when she got her legs, Ursula would not have even been able to fight Eric off of her.  I love Disney, so this really exudes my personal affection for the Little Mermaid.  If only Mary hadn't gotten sized already because this would do WONDERS for her butt!
And who could forget my passion and love for show choir?  I mean this really could not be more perfect for that.  The gold color would look so good on all of you and really bring out that March glow that we will all have.  Maybe I'll have ya'll do a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T during the ceremony.  That would be awesome!!

Paula might not like it but ya know there are consequences to sin. You think I'm not serious?  Look at this face and tell me if I'm joking.

Ha ha!  I love you hot ladies.  I just thought this would be a better way of whipping you into shape.   I mean after seeing these dresses the whole world is gonna want to be in the wedding party.  Ya'll forgot how funny I was didn't you?  I don't want you to have to be humiliated in those awful dresses so get those sizes in.  Whoop Whoop!

The unshared adventures of late...

I've been adventure crazy as of late, but you wouldn't know it based on this blog.  It's like I got sick and died after eating that awful turkey.  But I didn't.  I am alive.  So I'll take you back.  As of late, I've been on a random apartment/house/quaplex/duplex/anything cheap place to live after my roommate moves out in January.  So basically I look online or in the newspaper... find a place... drive there and look in the windows and around the neighborhood to see what's up.  I took one of my girls out there, Ashley, to a house quaplex I was looking at.  I realize they're not called quaplexes, they're really called fourplexes, but I like quaplex better.  You can also use the word quaplex as a way to say that you are confused.  For example, "I am so quaplexed about this situation."  Sorry, off subject.  As we are leaving this house we drive around the neighborhood to see if anything else is for rent.  What do we find?  This:

Look closely.  You'll notice that behind this sign there is a fence.  You might think to yourself, "It must be that house behind it that is for rent."  No, no, no.  That is a house on a completely different street.  I decide to call the place to see where this house is, but no one answers.  Conclusion: well there's two options.  1. It's an underground house and there is a secret password or button you must push in order to get to it or, 2. the house has an invisibility cloak over it and you just can't see it right now. All that to say, no one called me back.  I guess if I had revealed to them that I am a wizard they probably would have let me see the house and called me back, but oh well.  They're missing out.

A little while after this adventure, I adventure to the beautiful land of Siesta Key for my fiance's brother's wedding.  First off, it was a beautiful beach.

I mean seriously?  And there were tons of birds diving for fish.  I mean awesome.  No wonder pirates want to be on the water.  You get this view morning and night.  Unfortunately people don't really keep the beach all that beautiful during the day.  I'm not sure what makes people think that we should wear things Adam and Eve wore on the beach even today, but these people did.

I imagine that Adam and Eve were probably fairly buff.  I mean they didn't have all the crappy food we have today and they were made in the image of God so... they probably looked good in the animal skins that they were covered with.  They also had just caused the fall of mankind, so I mean they deserved to wear the loincloths.  Maybe that is what these two were trying to tell us.  Because of sin we deserve to wear something like this.  Just kidding... because of sin I just made that comment.  But let's be honest, what's the point here?  Is it that you want sun all over your body even though you probably wear a business suit every day?  I don't know.  Kudos to them for having the confidence to do that, so there you go.  Enough about them.

Moving on to fall in Birmingham.  Man oh man, it has been a beautiful one.  Except for when spiders were attacking the community.  I took a picture of one of the spiders on this car.  I mean they were everywhere, on mailboxes, on cars, I mean everywhere...

You can see one of these spiders on this car, left side on the back.  It's a bad picture because I was so scared of what might happen if the spider noticed I was taking a picture of him.  I mean they were everywhere.  Now that Halloween is over though they've started to dwindle away.  But what's been the best part about fall in B'ham...these colors:

I mean compared to last year, these colors are spectacular.  Maybe because everything died last year and just fell off the trees instead of actually turning colors.  So there you go, adventures galore.  Tally ho!

note to self

If it taste's funny, looks funny, and feels funny probably a bad idea to eat it.  Oh AND update on the online purchasing...i bought a dog bed and well, IT'S A DOG BED!  Not the cover of a dog bed, not the top of the dog bed, not a website linked to look at dog beds but a real live, really BIG dog bed.  Maybe my online shopping days aren't over for good.

Panda Dog

I'm sorry.  Where are these?  Who made them?  Is it a panda mixed with a dog?  Why is it the cutest thing ever?  What is happening here?  Where can I get one of these?  A panda dog.  Are you serious?

Good Ole' Fashion Way

What I'm watching: LIFETIME MOVIE NETWORK
What?  It's my day off.

So, I've officially decided that the adventure of online shopping is not for me.  I've decided it is just better for me to buy things that I can physically touch and hold rather than buy online.  I have had some serious issues with online buying.  I mean, I realize that the point of online buying is supposed to make our lives easier, but it doesn't work that way for me.  Case in point.  First item I ever bought online, was in high school on E-Bay.  It was right when E-Bay was kind of starting out and becoming popular.  I thought that it was this magical place where everything is just really cheap.  Like REALLY CHEAP.  I see this I-Pod (this was also when I-Pods were first becoming popular) and it's going for $5.  That's right, $5.  I check out the link I look at it, read all the descriptions, everything you are supposed to do when buying something online.  I'm thinking to myself, NO WAY!  I've found an I-Pod for five bucks are you serious?  And I'm so pumped, like I've discovered a secret no one else knows about.  So I purchase the "I-Pod."  Then what happens?  I know you are all in complete suspense...Oh I bought a LINK TO A WEBSITE!!    Seriously.  A link to a website that sells I-Pods that weren't even that cheap.  This scarred me for a while...a long while, like a couple of months ago.

Next time I buy something, I buy this awesome North Face jacket for 15 dollars.  It's great I love it, I even like it now, but what's the problem with this one...the sleeves are at least 6 inches past my arms, so that's great.  I also bought a camelback for 20 dollars, it only has enough water to hold a bottle of water so it's not really all that practical lets be honest.  But those weren't as horrible as the website, I at least can use those purchases.  What spurred this discussion of my inability to purchase online items?  Well this quilt did:

I know, super cute right?  Well it is and I was so excited about it.  Ever since the fall weather has started kicking in; it's a little cooler, the leaves are starting to turn, and it's beautiful outside, all I've wanted is to sit outside on a quilt.  I thought to myself, self, I wonder if I could find something cheap online.  So I go to this great website where people can sell things that they make.  This is nothing against that website because it's great.  I go over to my friend Katie's house and show her this AWESOME quilt I bought for 20 bucks.  I open up the picture, and Katie proceeds to let me know that I had only bought, the TOP OF A QUILT!  I like to pretend and talk about how I'm crafty, but I don't know a darn thing about sewing and making a quilt.  Basically we come to the decision that I am just going to have to make it quilt-like.

All this to say, I think for the most part I'm just going to stick to the good ole' fashion way of buying things... going to the store and buying it.  I mean when a pirate looks for treasure, he doesn't use the internet, he goes on an adventure to find it.  That's what I'll do.  Ahoy.

Pushing the Blue Button

What I'm listening to: The Greencards

New downfall of not just my life but America...Genius from ITunes.  Ok, so maybe it's not the downfall of America but it the downfall of the amount of money in my bank account.  My adventure of today has to do with discovering that I Tunes just keeps getting more brilliant with there money making abilities.  Ok seriously.  I don't know if maybe I'm just not self-controlled enough or what, but Genius is awesome!  First of all let's just talk about how whenever I buy music off I-Tunes (notice how I've written ITUNES in 4 different ways cause I don't know the right way to write it) I just feel like it's play money cause I don't have to swipe my card I just say buy and it buys the song.  That was the first thing I*Tunes did that was brilliant; making play money.  Second of all you click on a favorite artist such as Jimmy Buffett or Nickel Creek and then it tells you all the other things you would probably like.  You know what?  The darn thing is right every time about what I like... it reads my mind.  And I'm all about bands that aren't really popular (also a problem) because then it shows me these bands I'd never heard of so I'm like well I've got to look like the cool chick that listens to music no one else does so then I click on my play money.  Like 3 minutes later... I've bought 8 songs. THAT'S 8 DOLLARS!  Just like that.  I literally made myself get off of i TUNES.  And bought 8 songs learning like 6 new bands that I like and can't afford to buy right now.

It's just when that sweet little button that says "Buy" pops up on the screen in that precious blue color tempting me to say "this is so easy just push me."  So I push it...

Mornings, Motorcycles & Volleyball

What I'm watching: Secret Lives of Women=Phobias
What I'm reading: Mark
Early mornings are the best.  Problem is...I wake up so darn comfortable in my bed that I just want to lay there.  It's not that I need more rest, I'm just so comfie.  When I have to get up it's awesome and I feel like I've accomplished so much.  As you can probably tell, an early morning is part of this adventure today.  Met one of my high school girls at a great breakfast places at 7 before she had to go to school.  On the way however I saw a man riding in one of those motorcycles where the handle bars are like a foot over the driver's head.  Are you serious?

Apehangers, that's what they're called.  But no one really says if they do anything good for the biker or if it's just aesthetics.  It kind of just makes me think of games I would play with my friends when you'd hold your arms up and see who could hold them up the longest.  Motorcyclists with apehangers... they'd win.  Not really sure if that would be the talent I would choose, but hey to each his own.

Back to the adventure of the day... why is it that whenever you're in a hurry everything seems to go so much slower?  I got to this "swanky" restaurant about 30 minutes before I was meeting this super cool high school girl and the waiter came over probably 4 times at least to fill my coffee up.  When she gets there at 7 he doesn't come by again till 7:20, when she has to be at school at 7:40.  That's right.  It always happens that way.  Then I see two guys that I graduated from high school with meeting with another group of men in a bible study.  That was kind of weird to say the least, but good to see them and hear what is going on in there lives... briefly, very briefly.  This afternoon... saw Tropic Thunder for the second time.  How many more times could I see it?  Like 12 more.  I don't recommend it to anyone that is offended easily, because you will be offended (by cuss words or retarded jokes, etc.).

Something I've learned today... I love girl's volleyball.  Seriously, it's so intense and awesome and I didn't even realize how long we were there because I was so into the game.  It's definitely my new favorite activity to see my high schoolers involved in.  If you're not a pervert, you should go watch a girl's v'ball game.  I will NEVER understand the shorts though.  I should probably ask if there's a reason, but that would be the biggest deterrent for me if I were to ever play competitive volleyball (yeah right).  Those shorts are so short and tight.   Hmmm... maybe that's where Hollister got the idea for those awful shorts they design.  Someone, a pervert, probably went to a women's volleyball game and thought "I bet that style of shorts will look better in denim, khaki, and corduroy.  If they can make them out of spandex I could make them out of other materials and girl's can wear them so I don't have to go to volleyball games all the time but can just walk around the mall."  Thanks Hollister for that brilliant idea.

Restoration of Eden

Sitting with 6th graders in a high school football game really made me wish for the return of Christ.  After "jamming" with some 7th graders we walk up to sit with my little brother who's in 6th grade and a cutie.  Not just saying that cause he's my brother.  Matthew is sitting up with like 3 other guys behind a big group of like 20 kids.  He tells me that the big group of people are the "popular" kids and my heart just kind of dropped.  I hate that.  I hate that there's a popular group.  Hated it when I was in middle school and hate it now.  Working with junior highers you would think that I would see it more, but never is it more prevalent than in the stands of a football game.  It took everything in me to walk up that group and be like... you know what, Matthew knows like 20 senior high girls hotter than all of you and they love him.  How's that for popular?  But I didn't.  One of the best things about Matt is that he does not see what other people see in people.  He just sees people.  I distinctly remember a conversation I had with him that will forever stick with me, though he would not remember even something he said 5 minutes ago.  We were talking about a girl in his grade who is very strange, like a Boo Radley from To Kill A Mockingbird.  I asked him what he thought about this girl and he said, "Well other people think she's weird, but I don't really notice."  Those simple words blew my mind.  It made me pray for my innocence... to have that "faith like a child."  Matthew saw that other people thought this girl was weird and he might have even thought she was strange, but he saw person and nothing else.  What an example of the love of Christ.  So sweet.

But now back to the absurdity that is known as popularity in junior high.  Apparently one of the qualifications for that is that boys only talk to girls and girls talk to each other about how they can get those boys to talk to them.  I observed a group of 4 people. One boy, the striped-shirt boy, and 3 girls.  So here we have the striped-shirt boy and maybe his crush that's a girl.  The other two girls were trying to get them together.  The first thing the matchmakers do is grab either of the couples hands and try to get them to hold hands.  You did not misunderstand me.  The next thing I see is the two matchmakers go on either side of the boy and the girl and attempt to do a sandwich action to push them to sit closer to each other.  So then after feeling sorry for my brother that he has to deal with all of that, I think to myself, I am SO glad that he is up here sitting with boys that are yelling and loving football rather than those annoying little girls trying to get people together.

You might be wondering? Why would she call this post "restoration of eden?"  Well I'll tell you.  Sitting at that game made me desire for a restoration of eden.  The restoration of perfect relationships, where things like what you say and how you look don't matter, they're not even thought of.  These 6th grades remind me that I am far too comfortable with life on earth and need to be looking to the future of a restoration of eden always because there we will see perfection at its fullest.  So This was the adventure of the high school football game.  Oh the joys of youth ministry.

Oh the joys of Labor Day Weekend

What I'm watching: 24 Season 1 (i've watched a total of 5 minutes, so far so good)
What I'm reading: Twilight...finished Radical Reformission and it was awesome.

Well, currently, it's been about 2 days since that lovely weekend known as Labor Day Weekend.  Let's talk about all the great things about good ol' labor day weekend.  First of all, and most importantly FOOTBALL SEASON HAS BEGUN!!  I mean it just feels so good to be in football season.  I don't know if this is like everyone in the world...actually I know it's not, BUT football season just puts butterflies in your stomach; it's like Christmas!!  Gosh it's so great.  But we talk enough about football here in the south so I won't go on and on about that.  So back to labor day.  I went to Nashville for labor day to take some "vacation" time and visit my friend Penney.  Following are some of the many adventures from the weekend.  Most of the documentation I have are from the trip there, but I didn't want to seem too much like a tourist.  I feel like every time I attempt to go out of town (most people in my life, Emily, know this) it usually doesn't go exactly as planned, thus we have this picture:

Here's me in this huge honkin' car because my dad wasn't comfortable with The Blaze making it all the way to Nashville so here I am in the 'burb.  It's insanely big especially for me, driving alone, to Nashville with my one little bag.  I'm sure every time I was at a gas station people were looking at me with those I-can't-believe-how-much-energy-your-wasting eyes.  Well in order to even get into this thing I had to meet my dad at work trade cars with him thus drive the opposite direction of where I needed to go.  AND I REALLY wanted to rent a book on CD from the Library, so I went to the closest library to my house.  Guess what?  Apparently there was a library staff day.  My first thought is, what the heck do you need a staff day for... all you gotta do is tell people what books they should check out.  Maybe they go over books they like or something.  Well I don't let that ruin my desire to check out a book so I think oh, well there's another library on the way.  I go to my second library and well what do you think happened; they were having staff day too.  National staff day?  No way.  I can think of ONE more library on the way and because I'm a genius decide to call ahead.  They're open!  Hurray!  The lady tells me that apparently the downtown library computer has crashed and so all the other libraries have to close... of course on the one day of maybe 2 out of the year where I want to check something out.  Well that delays me about 3 hours but I'm finally on the road.  I've been on the road for an hour or so and this happens:

As you can see I'm behind a horse trailer and as you can also see the windshield is a little blurry.  That's because the horse in front of me apparently needed to take a leak and thus it ended up on my windshield.  Isn't that hilarious?  Yeah I know.  And it would be more hilarious if it had actually happened to me.  Only a true pirate would steal other people's stories and embellish them to make it sound like it happened to them.  This adventure actually happened to my friend Angela as she was behind Penney's horse trailer.  It was a hot day so she left the back gate open to give the horse a little air and well, you know the rest.  Pee all over the windshield and if you've ever seen a farm animal pee it's a blasting stream for like 7 minutes.

I'm not really sure which state (as in Alabama or Tennessee) I was in at this point, but I think it was in Tennessee for both these pictures, maybe Alabama for the rocket.  All that to say, Southern states are very interesting.  Just driving along the interstate there are countless reasons to pull off.  Either you pull off for some holy ground they found in some small town in Alabama, or this rocket that I have know idea why it's here, or for girls showing of themselves.  What a mix of things to see!  Here are two of those places to see:

I just thought it was hilarious that this place was called the Boobie Bungalow.  Is that hilarious to anyone else but me?  It's just so original.  As this blog is getting to be pretty long and I'm only on the trip down there I'll speed it up a bit.  Once I got to Nashville, Penney and I were planning to go and watch the game and Sam's bar and grill.  Before we went Penney was really thirsty so instead of pulling off at some gas station or grocery store or something like that where do we go but Wendy's.  Wendy's!  All she wants is a glass of water and we go to Wendy's.  I'm one of those people that if I am in another city that I don't go often I want to go to everything authentically that city.  Penney is one of those people that wherever she is, she'd be completely satisfied just going to Wendy's or to Panera even though they're everywhere.  It's kind of comical.  We watch the Vandy game and the South Carolina game at a random upscale bar in downtown Nashville.  The weekend was awesome, but I'm afraid it will be way to boring to mention every detail.  Nashville is a really fun city, I will say that much and I LOVED walking everywhere we went.

I left on Saturday, came home and had to do my research on fantasy football.  Yeah, that's right I'm sucked into fantasy football.  I'm also a horribly sore loser so I did lots of research on what players I needed to pick and who I didn't need to pick and printed out all this information on by weeks.  I mean I was so ready.  My team name is Team Lead Farmer cause if you've ever seen the movie Tropic Thunder one of the best lines in there is "I'm a lead farmer, mother f'er."  It doesn't sound like a great line if you've never seen the movie... so go see it now.  The rest of the weekend was me staying by myself on Sunday (which was awesome) and then Sunday spending some good quality time with my fiance and family.  I'm not sure you can read this and not think to yourself... that was a great weekend.

Let's do this

What I'm reading: Radical Reformission and Twilight (I got sucked in)
What I'm watching: House Season 1

Alright so I'm not even going to address the fact that I haven't talked on this thing since MAY!!!  Ok so I guess I addressed it a little bit, but that's all I'm gonna say.  Well I got a new computer which is just going to revolutionize the way I blog, I feel it.  It doesn't take five hours to upload pictures it does take 15 hours to save something...it's just so fast and beautiful and awesome.  So hello world, I've got a new lease on life.  Since May there have been oh so many adventures from Bay St. Louis to Covenant College to Lake Hartwell to Creation Museum; so many treasures and unchartered waters have been discovered.  But "yesterday's over my shoulder, so I can't look backwards too long..." -Jimmy Buffett.  Onto the adventures of the recent weeks.  First of all, I'd like you all to meet my guard spider:

Yeah, that's right, my guard spider.  I haven't come up with a name for him, but he has done a great job guarding my house from all kinds of barbarians.
Including one friend of mine who came knocking on my roommates window thinking that would be a brilliant idea... it wasn't.  Now in my mind, my guard spider attacked him and told him that was not o.k., but really that was just my roommate.  We fed the spider a nice juicy moth to let him know how much we appreciated his guarding our house.  Unfortunately I can't bring Spike... I just decided that's his name... to other places where I might need protection; like here, at this baseball game:

I know you see that dent there in the stands.  Well it's where the lines get a little bent up there in the right hand corner...I know you see it, it's not really little.  Take a good look cause I WAS SITTING THERE!!  I lifted my hands up in the air as if I could possibly catch this fly ball coming straight for my face with my bare hands.  Obviously I wasn't sitting there anymore and got up fast as lighting Bolt (the Jamaican racer) before this meteor came barreling down at my face.  But I made it...I guess that's clear at this point considering I'm writing here now.  The next adventure was me driving to a rehearsal dinner about an hour away.  Here's what I looked like as I was driving home late that night...

Facial expressions say it all and let's be honest this face says more than words could express.  An hour's drive is not so bad, but knowing you've got to make the same trip the next day for the wedding... well just read my face.  But adventures are adventures no matter what way you look at it.  On to another day.

6 months later...

So here's the deal. It's been a while mainly because it has taken me so long to figure out what I want this blog to be about. I didn't want it to be about my life necessarily, because I don't think people want to get online and read a day-by-day view of someone's life...unless there like out of the country or having a baby or something. All that to say, i've decided what i want this to be about; adventures. Reading other people's blogs has inspired me to be an inspiration to others. i have a feeling, this is going to take me a little while to have a blog worth reading but now I will start. I'm going to do it this time world.

Every pirate must have adventures in order to be a pirate, thus, in order for me to claim to be a "pirate" (minus the pillaging and plundering) I must have daily adventures. No, my adventures are not going to be things that sailing the open sea or discovering an island with tribal people on it, although that would be awesome. My adventures are those things that I experience every day. Crazy days where it feels like waves are hitting you from all sides and calm days with waves that just roll and roll. As a pirate seeking adventures, so I want to find the adventures in each day of my life. The adventure begins....
